    On receipt of 15 ratifications the ISA Framework Agreement entered into force on the 6th of December, 2017 thereby making ISA a de jure treaty based international intergovernmental organisation. So far 19 countries have ratified and 48 countries have signed the ISA Framework Agreement.

    On December 14th, 2017, Mr. Upendra Tripathy, Director General of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) visited for the first time facilities of CEA at the National Solar Energy Institute (INES) located near Chambery (South East part of France).

  • COP-23 ISA Press Release

    Speaking at the Curtain Raiser of the Founding Ceremony of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), H.E. Anand Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India hoped that, in the spirit of affirmative action, developed countries will earmark a percentage of Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) towards solar energy projects in developing countries. He suggested that Multilateral Development Banks and other financial institutions provide wholehearted support for solar projects through low cost finance, and research & technology institutions worldwide try their utmost to bring the cost of solar power and storage within the reach of all. He also invited corporates and other institutions to support solar energy development and deployment in every possible manner.

    NEW DELHI, 2nd November 2017 - The International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed the Joint financial partnership Declaration in the presence of Shri Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Minister of Finance, Government of India, and Sir Suma Chakrabati, President EBRD with an objective to deepen their cooperation in support of Renewable Energy. The previous two partnerships were signed by ISA with the World Bank and the European Investment Bank.

    AHMEDABAD, 24 May 2017 – Today, in a side event of the 52nd Annual Meeting of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the third programme of ISA “Scaling Solar MiniGrids” was launched by France and India with a special objective to cater to the energy needs of ISA Member states in identified areas with unreliable or no grid(s), and in island member states having abundant potential to tap solar energy.

  • Appointment of the full time Interim Director General(IDG)

    Authorised by the International Steering Committee of ISA, the Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy and Mines of India and Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs Government of France have jointly decided to appoint Mr. Upendra Tripathy, as the Interim Director General of the International Solar Alliance (IDG) on a full time basis.
